“Because someone stole his candy.”
The boy burst out laughing.
“Mom! I want the angry one!”
“And what about this surprised ghost?” his mother asked.
“Oh, he just found out how much his electricity bill is,” I replied.
Even Lily laughed at that.
Before long, we had a little crowd around our table. Some customers wanted to know how Lily made her decorations, and she happily explained.
“Mom,” Lily whispered after our fifth sale, “you’re making cookies sound like celebrities.”
“Well, yours deserve their own red carpet.”
Soon, customers were recommending us to everyone who passed.
“Go check out the Halloween cookies! They’ll tell you the stories behind them!”
I watched several people head toward Karen and Madison’s table, apparently expecting the same entertaining service.
I bit back a smile.
Oh, this was going to be good.
I was helping Lily wrap another box when I noticed a woman approach Madison’s table.
