“We Took This Photo Just One Day Before My Husband Told Me, ‘If You Ever Find Out What I Really Did for Your Sister, You Will Never Forgive Me.’ The Next Day, My Sister Appeared at Our Door, Holding a 35-Year-Old Letter…”

I fell in love with the baby immediately.

But I had never known that she was actually my own sister’s daughter.

Linda continued:

“When my husband died, I was left completely alone. I had no money and no home. Our mother suggested that I give Emily to you. She knew how desperately you dreamed of becoming a mother.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me the truth?”

Linda sobbed.

“I wanted to. But Robert was afraid you might lose the baby if you found out about me and I later changed my mind.”

Robert lowered his head.

“I made a mistake, Mary. At first, I thought it would only be a temporary secret. But then the years passed, and I no longer knew how to confess.”

“Then why did you go to the cemetery every Sunday?”

He looked at Linda.

“I was visiting Daniel’s grave. Emily’s biological father. I promised him that his daughter would never go hungry or be left without protection.”
