Dawson asks.

Megan began sobbing.

The sentence struck all of us differently.

Dawson read:

If Megan cannot raise Oliver, ask Dawson.

He may say no.

Let him.

A guardian should be somebody allowed to choose the job.

Then the final line:

And do not let Ryan touch Oliver's money until he learns that being a father is not the same thing as being entitled to what belongs to his child.

Ryan turned white.

Nora looked at him.

“She wrote that before your company began failing.”

I stared.

“Why would she say it?”

Ryan answered.

“Because I asked her once whether Oliver's trust could invest in my company.”

I closed my eyes.

Of course.

“When?”

“After the DNA test.”

“Before she died?”

“What did she say?”

“No.”

A complete sentence.

Pity he had not learned from it.

Nora explained that Judith's fraudulent filing had now triggered exactly the review Lena anticipated.
