Part 2: I discovered my husband was having an affair with my best friend while we were all on the same airplane—and neither of them knew I was there. Instead of confronting them, I sent a small, beautifully wrapped gift to their seats.

Megan's suitability as guardian was in question because she had concealed the condo, moved substantial marital assets, and coordinated extensively with Ryan while an affair was underway.

That did not automatically make her an unfit guardian.

Adultery is not the same as child endangerment.

But financial secrecy involving Oliver's proposed residence mattered.

Judith's conduct mattered more.

Ryan's forged mortgage mattered greatly.

Nora had already sought emergency orders keeping Oliver with his current caregivers until the court reviewed everything.

Dawson whispered:

“Current caregivers are Megan's parents.”

“Yes.”

“Judith.”

“Yes.”

“So he stays with the person who filed this?”

“Tonight, no.”

Nora's expression tightened.

“The court authorized temporary placement with a licensed family friend identified in Lena's documents.”

“Who?”

“Me.”

We all stared.

Nora sighed.

“I have a guest room.”

It was almost funny.

Almost.

Then she looked at Dawson.

“The court will likely ask whether you are willing to be assessed as temporary successor guardian.”
