“My Boss Told Me, ‘If You Take a Picture With Me Tonight, I’ll Triple Your Salary Tomorrow.’ I Agreed. But the Next Morning, When I Arrived at Work, I Saw My Photograph on the Office Door. With Tears in My Eyes, I Burst Into My Boss’s Office…”

But the most frightening part was the message printed beneath it.

“EMILY WILSON. STARTING TODAY, EVERYTHING CHANGES FOR HER AT THIS COMPANY.”

My heart began pounding.

What was that supposed to mean?

Several employees were standing near the entrance, whispering among themselves.

The moment they saw me, they fell silent.

One of them even turned away to avoid looking me in the eye.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

Nobody answered.

I approached the reception desk.

The secretary stood up as soon as she saw me.

“Emily, the director is waiting for you.”

“First, tell me why my photograph is on the door.”

She gave me an awkward smile.

“It would be better if he explained it himself.”

That was when I noticed that my employee access card wasn’t working.

I tried to open the staff entrance.

A red light flashed.

“ACCESS DENIED.”

“Why has my card been blocked?”
