I dressed like a homeless man and walked into my own restaurant to see how my employees treated people who couldn’t afford a decent meal. I expected some unfriendly attitudes and perhaps a few rude remarks. Instead, I uncovered something so alarming that I eventually had to contact the police

“One meal today, five tomorrow! You think customers want to sit beside people who look like him?”

Several diners turned to watch.

I lowered my head and spoke quietly.

“Sir, I’m not bothering anyone. I only wanted something warm to eat.”

Trevor leaned closer.

“Then you picked the wrong restaurant.”

Before I could respond, he grabbed my arm.

“Get up. You’re leaving.”

I tried to remain composed.

“Please, sir. There’s no need for that.”

“I said get out!”

He pulled me away from the table and hurried me toward the entrance.

Josie protested behind us.

“Trevor, stop! He hasn’t done anything!”

But Trevor ignored her.

As I struggled to keep my balance, the loose sole of my worn shoe caught against the edge of the carpet.

I stumbled sideways, turning toward the hostess counter.

And that’s when I noticed something strange.

An elderly customer was standing at the register, holding out her credit card.
