I carried a baby for my sister and her husband, but the moment they saw the little girl, they broke down and said, “This is not the child we wanted.” Right then, I decided to teach them a lesson they would never forget.

“Alison, please,” Samantha whimpered, her voice cracking as she reached the top step. “I have completely lost everything.”

She stood there on my porch and confessed that Ronald’s grandfather’s estate trustees had caught wind of the surrogacy scandal and the deliberate attempt to engineer a male heir for the money. Within weeks of the hospital incident, the trustees froze the entire twelve-million-dollar trust fund permanently, locking Ronald out of the inheritance forever, which quickly led to a bitter divorce between them.

“You did not lose everything, Samantha,” I said softly, looking at her without an ounce of hatred left in my heart. “You threw the only thing that mattered directly into the trash.”

Samantha broke down into heavy sobs, burying her face in her hands. “I was sick, Alison! I was not thinking clearly back then! Ronald pressured me constantly about the inheritance money, and I let myself get carried away!”
