I carried a baby for my sister and her husband, but the moment they saw the little girl, they broke down and said, “This is not the child we wanted.” Right then, I decided to teach them a lesson they would never forget.

Samantha and Ronald exchanged a swift, silent glance across the room, and the sudden look that appeared on their faces sent an actual chill down my spine. It was not anger, nor was it sorrow or regret; it was pure, unadulterated relief.

“That works out perfectly for us,” Ronald said with a firm, dismissive tone. “We have zero desire to take her home with us anyway.”

Samantha wiped a stray, fake tear from her cheek as she turned toward the heavy exit door. “I never want to lay eyes on her ever again because she managed to ruin absolutely everything we built.”

Ronald grabbed Samantha by her elbow and guided her quickly into the corridor outside, but my sister paused at the threshold for a brief second to look back over her shoulder. I waited in breathless suspense, desperately searching her face for any remnant of the loving sister I had grown up alongside, any hint of maternal regret, or any sudden realization of her horrific mistake.
