A PTA Mom Took Over My Daughter’s Halloween Bake-Sale Table—

Her eyes narrowed.

Then she abandoned her table and marched straight toward us.

Karen stormed up to our table just as I was explaining why Lily’s vampire cookies had different-sized fangs.

“Excuse me!” she snapped. “What exactly do you think you’re doing?”

I blinked.

“Selling cookies?”

“Don’t play innocent! You’re deliberately making Madison look bad with all your ridiculous stories! This is a school bake sale, not some fancy cooking show!”

A woman beside me raised an eyebrow.

“I actually appreciate knowing what I’m buying.”

“Exactly,” I agreed. “Especially when people ask about ingredients.”

Karen’s cheeks reddened.

“Oh, please! You and your daughter are acting like you’re better than everyone else!”

Lily stepped closer to me.

“Mom, can we just—”

“It’s okay, sweetheart,” I whispered, squeezing her hand. “You’ve done nothing wrong.”

Karen folded her arms.

“Besides, Madison worked just as hard as Lily! My daughter spent days making those treats!”
