Warning! If you have found this insect in your home, it’s a sign that you need to

Your Kitchen?

The source of the problem is often closer than you think.

Pantry moth eggs or young larvae can sometimes be present in dry food products before they are purchased. Once the product enters a warm kitchen, the insects can continue developing and eventually reproduce.

They are attracted to a surprisingly wide range of foods. Flour, rice, pasta, cereals, grains, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, baking ingredients, spices, and pet food can all provide suitable sources of nourishment.

This is also why pantry moths can seem to appear out of nowhere. You may not notice anything unusual when you first bring a package home. Weeks later, adult moths may suddenly begin flying around the kitchen.

Don’t Just Kill the Moth You See

The first instinct is often to kill the adult moth and assume the problem is solved. Unfortunately, that may only remove the most visible part of the infestation.
