The night before my wedding I heard my maid of honour through the hotel wall saying they'd pour wine on my dress and lose the rings. I recorded four minutes of it with my phone against the connecting door.

And she got four words out.

Frey. Can I show you something.

And I took her phone off her at a kitchen door and told her to go and find Nadia.

The recording went to the four of them on the Monday. Individually, no message with it, just the file.

Nadia has not responded. Eleven months.

Sorcha wrote me four pages and I have read it and I have not answered it and I do not know whether I will.

Dilly rang me within about nine minutes of it landing and the first thing she said was not sorry. It was: "Did you ever look at my phone?"

She had been carrying that since December.

She comes on a Thursday now. That took a long time and it is not what it was and it is something.
