Part 2: My son h.i.t me 30 times in front of his wife… so the next morning, while he sat in his office, I sold the house he thought was his.

He said the buyer could close quickly.

I was hurt.

Angry.

Desperate to remove the house from Trevor's control.

So I signed.

Now Detective Grant was looking at the company registration.

Her expression changed.

"Mrs. Sutter..."

My stomach tightened.

"What?"

"Redcrest and Ashcroft appear to share a registered business address."

I stared at her.

"The company that bought River Oaks and the company that received Cedarline's money?"

She nodded.

A terrible feeling settled inside me.

Daniel had helped me sell the house.

Malcolm had stolen company money.

And both transactions appeared to lead toward the same network of businesses.

I looked at the sale price again.

Then at the estimated market value.

Daniel had presented the offer as fair.

But recent comparable sales suggested the property might have been worth substantially more.

My hands began shaking.

I thought I'd been punishing Trevor.

Instead, someone may have used my anger and injuries to persuade me to sell a valuable property on unfavorable terms.
