A Lesson Beyond the Wedding
The reception continued, although the evening was not quite what I had imagined. My mother helped me clean the remaining frosting from my hair, and my father stayed nearby to make sure I felt comfortable.
Later, several relatives checked on me. Their kindness reminded me that one uncomfortable moment did not have to define the entire day.
When the celebration ended, Daniel and I discussed what had happened. We agreed that we needed to communicate more openly and take each other’s concerns seriously, even when we did not immediately understand them.
I also realized that I needed to express my feelings without worrying that every disagreement would ruin a special occasion. Keeping quiet might prevent an argument temporarily, but it would not solve the underlying problem.
