“Great. Now you’ve ruined everyone’s morning.”

He grabbed his keys and left for work.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Then Graham crossed the kitchen and kissed the top of my head.

“Love you, Mom.”

Tobin followed.

“And you look fine, by the way.”

I tried to smile, but my eyes were burning.

The boys exchanged a glance.

“Mom, can you text Dad?” Graham asked. “Tell him we want to watch the game tonight. Ask him to come home an hour early.”

I frowned.

“You boys usually arrange that yourselves.”

“We know,” Graham replied.

“Why?”

Tobin picked up his jacket.

“Because Dad needs to learn something.”

I had no idea what they were planning.

I texted Wade.

The boys want to watch the game tonight. Can you come home an hour early?

His reply came quickly.

Sure. Tell them to get pizza.
