My Future Mother-in-Law Invited Me to Dinner the Night Before My Wedding — But She Had a Sinister Plan

Now she feared that marriage would take away the support she had come to depend on.

“She’s going to take everything from me,” Patricia whispered.

“No,” Arthur replied firmly. “She’s going to be my wife.”

For the first time, he recognized how deeply his mother’s expectations had affected his life. But I also reminded him that his secrecy had damaged our relationship. Understanding why he had hidden the truth did not make the deception acceptable.

Arthur promised to show me his financial records, discuss all future commitments openly, and stop sending money without understanding what his mother genuinely needed.

“You made this choice when you tried to hurt the woman I’m marrying,” he told her.
