Miley then thanked fans for helping her reach a point in her career she once only dreamed about.
“I sincerely hope you love this album,” she wrote.
For some people online, however, the announcement felt uncomfortable because it came so soon after Dolly’s death.
“It hasn’t even been a week since Dolly’s passing… this is so weird of her,” one critic wrote.
Another questioned why Miley was promoting music during such a painful time.
But those comments quickly triggered a wave of responses from people who felt Miley’s grief was being unfairly judged.
Many pointed directly to Miley’s own tribute, in which she said Dolly would want her to feel the loss, turn it into music and continue moving forward.
One fan argued that the album had almost certainly been planned and completed before Dolly died and criticized people for assuming they understood Miley’s private grief.
Another wrote that Dolly would likely have wanted Miley to release the music anyway rather than put her life and career indefinitely on hold.

Others noted that Dolly herself continued working through enormously difficult moments in her own life.
One commenter referenced the death of Dolly’s husband, Carl Dean, and argued that Dolly had always been someone who kept moving forward despite personal pain.
