The apparent change comes less than a week after the singer lost her beloved godmother, Dolly Parton, who died at 80 on August 25, 2026.
Dolly’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the country legend’s passing in an emotional Instagram video on behalf of the Parton and Owens family.Country Music
“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” Bryan said.
He explained that he had served as Dolly’s head of security for more than two decades, following in the footsteps of his father, Larry, and described the responsibility of announcing her death as one filled with both “absolute pride and great sadness.”
Bryan said the sadness belonged to those Dolly had left behind.
“Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens,” he said.
He also reflected on how deeply Dolly changed the lives of both her family and the countless people who followed her career.
“Dolly opened doors not just for me but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn’t even know was possible,” he shared.
“Dolly also opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers from every walk of life and across every continent.”

Bryan recalled Dolly telling him that after spending a lifetime in rhinestones and elaborate stage clothes, she wanted something much softer when she was finally laid to rest.
According to him, Dolly said she wanted to rest in “a beautiful bed of plush cotton” because she deserved to be comfortable after a lifetime of wearing heavy rhinestones.
