Home Entertainment Game Technology Advertisement Part 2: For eight years, my parents made me leave the house every time my brother brought his fiance over; Mom said, “She comes from a good family, don’t embarrass us”; Dad added, “Just disappear for the weekend”; I did; then one weekend, I never came back; it took them four years to find out where I went.

A pause.

"There's something wrong with this place."

I stared at the recorder.

Then Nina whispered:

"I found out why they don't want Stacey to leave."

My heart thundered.

"Her father isn't the only one involved."

A long silence followed.

Then Nina said something that made the blood drain from my face.

"Her mother knows everything."

I closed my eyes.

Of course.

My mother.

The woman who counted my pills.

The woman who controlled my meals.

The woman who told me I was too unwell to make decisions.

Then Nina continued.

"But she's not the one giving the orders either."

The room went silent.

Avery looked at me.

Ben gripped the recorder.

Nina's voice grew frightened.

"There's someone else."

A pause.

"Someone Stacey trusts."

My heart pounded.

Then she whispered:

"The woman from the farm."

I stopped breathing.

Avery went completely still.

Nina continued.

"She came to the hospital last night."
