Home Entertainment Game Technology Advertisement Part 2: For eight years, my parents made me leave the house every time my brother brought his fiance over; Mom said, “She comes from a good family, don’t embarrass us”; Dad added, “Just disappear for the weekend”; I did; then one weekend, I never came back; it took them four years to find out where I went.

No reason to remember a child in my bedroom after the hospital.

Then I remembered something else.

The photograph of Nina.

She'd once told me she had a little brother.

A boy she worried about constantly.

I reached for my phone.

And called Avery.

***

Avery arrived before sunrise.

I told her about the memory.

She listened carefully.

Then opened Ruth's box again.

We searched through the photographs.

The letters.

The old medical records.

Near the bottom, Avery found a small envelope neither of us had noticed.

It was labeled:

**NINA PRICE — FAMILY.**

Inside was a photograph.

Nina stood in a garden beside a little boy.

He had dark hair.

A shy smile.

And a gap between his front teeth.

I stared at him.

My breath stopped.

I knew that face.

Not because I'd seen it in the hospital.

Because I'd seen it yesterday.

At my nursery.

I turned toward Avery.
