Home Entertainment Game Technology Advertisement Part 2: For eight years, my parents made me leave the house every time my brother brought his fiance over; Mom said, “She comes from a good family, don’t embarrass us”; Dad added, “Just disappear for the weekend”; I did; then one weekend, I never came back; it took them four years to find out where I went.

"I saw the hospital recording."

Silence.

Complete silence.

Then his voice changed.

"Who showed you that?"

"Detective Grant."

A long pause.

Then he whispered, "You shouldn't have seen it."

My stomach tightened.

"Why?"

"Because you don't remember what happened afterward."

I gripped the phone.

"Then tell me."

He was silent.

Then he said something that made my blood run cold.

"Nina wasn't the only person who tried to leave that night."

I stopped breathing.

"What?"

"You did too."

"I know. I saw myself."

He laughed softly.

"No, Stacey."

A pause.

"I'm talking about what happened after I took you out of the hospital."

My heart began pounding.

"What happened?"

His voice became cold.

"You made a promise."

I stared at the wall.

"What promise?"

"That you'd never tell anyone what you saw."

I couldn't breathe.

"Why would I promise that?"

A long silence followed.

Then he whispered:

"Because you thought someone else would die if you didn't."
