I always thought my life would follow a simple path. I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other and where families seemed to have shared the same customs for generations. My father was a reserved man who worked long hours to support the family, while my mother dedicated most of her time to taking care of the house and me. We were a humble family, but we never lacked anything we needed.
However, there was something that always made me feel different. In my house, feelings were almost never discussed. Problems were resolved in silence, and important decisions were made solely by my parents. I learned very early on that arguing was pointless and that the best thing to do was obey.
