The Woman He Loved Walked Away After Seeing Him in a Wheelchair — But the Next Day, She Returned with Words That Left Him Speechless

“What did you tell me?”

“That I wasn’t going anywhere.”

I sat speechless.

“Then Rachel arrived,” Hannah continued. “She told me she was your girlfriend and asked me to gather your belongings.”

As Hannah picked up my jacket, something fell from its pocket.

A small box.

My engagement ring.

“I asked Rachel if it belonged to her,” Hannah said. “She opened it, then asked whether you’d told anyone about it. When I said no, she closed the box and said, ‘Nothing.’”

Hannah swallowed.

“That’s when I realized you were planning to propose. I was already falling for you, and I felt ashamed. You had someone you loved, so I requested a transfer and never said goodbye.”

“For three years, I thought you two got married,” she whispered.

“When I saw you at the café, I realized Rachel had left you. I panicked. I thought I’d somehow contributed to everything that happened.”
