Tristan wanted to postpone, or tell the guests what had happened and move them somewhere else. I told him no to both. We were getting married, exactly as planned. The ceremony itself was beautiful — for those few minutes, Linda and the missing reception simply disappeared.
Three Buses and a Hidden Surprise
Afterward, Linda stood outside the church looking smug while confused guests asked where the reception was. She glanced at me, clearly enjoying the moment, right up until three black shuttle buses pulled up in front of the church.
What’s this? she asked, her confidence slipping. Our reception, I told her. Her smile vanished.
Forty minutes later, we arrived at a private estate outside town. Lights covered the trees, tables filled the garden, and a band was already playing. Servers carried trays of champagne between the guests. It looked less like a backup plan and more like the wedding we should have had from the start.
