“This fruit was removed from a property

private without permission. If anyone received apples or pears from Monica this morning, please don't buy them. They were taken from a family garden.”

I didn't accuse Monica of stealing them.

Not yet.

I wanted her to be the one to break it.

And I didn't have to wait long.

At ten in the morning, Monica left her house.

Seeing the table, he stood still.

His face went from bewilderment to fury.

What the hell are you doing, Claire?

I slowly turned.

“Nothing you didn’t do.

You're crazy!

“Oh, yeah?”

I pointed out the pictures.

“Then explain to me why more than a hundred apples appeared in your garage this morning.

Monica opened her mouth, but she didn't answer.

A neighbor standing by the sidewalk raised his head.

More than a hundred?

She rushed to answer.

I bought them!

Ben took my hand.
