“Medical Journals.”
Mara frowned on the eyebrows.
“Medical?”
David nodded.
“The founders were not just recording the bloodlines.”
The voice came down.
“They controlled them.”
Elias felt a thrill that had nothing to do with winter.
David continued.
“The marriages. Births. What families could have children. Who babies disappeared when they were born with certain traits.”
Mara looked at it.
“What traits?”
David looked at Rose and Ruth.
"Gemini."
Another fire hit the cabin.
Elias has retorted.
David spoke quickly.
“The Vance line has a history of twins. So is my mother's family. My father believed that if two bloodlines intersected, twin daughters would eventually be born, bearing legal claims through both family lines.
“Pretting what?” Elias asked.
David pointed to the old landlock.
“Everything.”
Mara whispered, "Mercy Ridge."
