Part 2: I discovered my husband was having an affair with my best friend while we were all on the same airplane—and neither of them knew I was there. Instead of confronting them, I sent a small, beautifully wrapped gift to their seats.

The $74,000 became part of Dawson and Megan's marital litigation.

No secret second home survived.

Megan moved in with her parents after Judith's custody scheme came out.

That went badly.

Megan and her mother apparently had their first screaming fight in twenty years.

Healthy, perhaps.

Dawson accepted the court's request for a temporary guardianship assessment.

Not because he wanted to “win” Oliver from Megan.

He told me over coffee:

“Lena asked.”

“And?”

“And Oliver knows me.”

That mattered.

During Megan's marriage, Dawson had been present during some visits with Lena.

Oliver remembered him.

Called him Uncle Daws.

“Do you want children?”

I asked.

Dawson looked down.

“We tried.”

That surprised me.

“Megan and I.”

“Years ago.”

“It didn't happen.”

“Then we stopped talking about it.”

His eyes filled.

“I don't want to turn Oliver into an answer to that.”

Good.

“What do you want?”

“I want him to stop moving houses.”
