Part 2: I discovered my husband was having an affair with my best friend while we were all on the same airplane—and neither of them knew I was there. Instead of confronting them, I sent a small, beautifully wrapped gift to their seats.

I stared.

Trust.

Dawson read over my shoulder.

“What trust?”

I called.

Nora answered immediately.

“Mrs. Bennett?”

“Yes.”

“Are you somewhere safe?”

That question changed everything.

“Yes.”

“Is Oliver safe?”

“As far as I know.”

“No.”

Her voice sharpened.

“I mean right now.”

I looked at Dawson.

“Where are Megan's parents?”

He called them from his phone.

Megan's father answered.

Oliver was with them.

Safe.

Nora exhaled.

“Good.”

“What is going on?”

She paused.

Then said:

“Lena left Oliver just over $900,000 in life-insurance proceeds and investment assets.”

I stared at Dawson.

He looked equally shocked.

Nora continued.

“Megan was appointed temporary guardian after Lena died.”

“But I am independent trustee of Oliver's money.”

“So Megan can't spend it?”

“Not without documentation and approval.”

“Then why the condo?”

“That is what concerns me.”

Nora had received requests for reimbursement tied to housing expenses for Oliver.

A condominium.

Private-school deposits.

Furniture.

All submitted through an entity connected to Ryan's company.
