Our daughter's twin di3d at nine days old and we let her believe she was born alone — at her eighteenth my husband carried something out of the garage and said he had started it the night her sister died.

And the last line of every single one of them is the same sentence.

***"You had a sister. Her name was Posy. I'm going to tell you this year."***

Eighteen times.

And seventeen of them were not true.

And I have had to sit with the fact that every time that man said "she's got a right to know" in a car and let it go — he did not let it go.

He went out to a garage on the ninth of September and wrote it down again and put it in a box.

Seventeen times he failed to do the thing he had written down, and then wrote it down again.

I did not know one word of this. Not the letters, not the chest, not the pieces of the cot.

I thought that man was sitting out there having a cigarette he thinks I don't know about.

And now the part I was not expecting at all.
