I frowned.
“So we can’t just throw her out?”
“Not without a valid contractual basis, and using the hotel to retaliate personally would create unnecessary legal problems.”
A strange sense of relief passed through me.
I didn’t want David becoming another version of Eleanor, using financial power to punish anyone who refused to obey.
“What can we do?”
I asked.
“We can demand the relevant records, investigate the disputed guarantee, and enforce legitimate rights through the proper legal processes.”
I looked toward Leo.
“Then do that.”
Rebecca hesitated.
“There’s one more matter.”
“What?”
“Eleanor’s foundation made several financial representations during the birthday event that may warrant independent review.”
My stomach tightened.
“Did they use Leo’s photograph?”
“Yes, and David forwarded the program.”
“Nobody had permission.”
“Then we can send a notice requiring them to stop using his image.”
I closed my eyes.
“Please do.”
After the call, I placed my phone beside Leo’s bed.
