My Mother Ordered Me To Abandon My Dying Son For My Sister’s Birthday, But She Never Expected My Husband To Own Her Empire-024

A photograph of Leo appeared beside a paragraph describing Eleanor’s commitment to vulnerable children.

I read the paragraph twice.

Then I noticed a smaller line beneath the photograph.

It identified Leo as the foundation’s youngest honorary ambassador.

“Did anyone ask you about this?”

Chloe asked.

I shook my head.

“Nobody.”

David took the program and examined it.

“Did Eleanor authorize the use of this photograph?”

“She must have.”

“Did the foundation receive any money tonight?”

Chloe hesitated.

“They announced a major fundraising appeal during dinner.”

My stomach tightened again.

“Using Leo?”

“His picture was on the screen while Mom asked everyone to support the foundation.”

I looked at my son’s unconscious face.

The contrast felt obscene.

His grandmother had refused to believe his suffering while using his image to ask strangers for generosity.

David handed the program back.

“We’ll have the foundation’s disclosures reviewed.”

I shook my head.
