My Mother Ordered Me To Abandon My Dying Son For My Sister’s Birthday, But She Never Expected My Husband To Own Her Empire-024

I frowned.

“What kind of issues?”

“Her family office has repeatedly requested emergency extensions, and the supporting documents contain several troubling inconsistencies.”

“How troubling?”

“I don’t know yet.”

He held my gaze.

“But I won’t keep another secret from you.”

I wanted to believe him.

Before I could answer, the door to Leo’s room opened.

Dr.

Rivera stepped into the hallway.

“The breathing tube is in place, and the ventilator is supporting him now.”

I nearly collapsed with relief.

“Can we see him?”

“In a moment, after the team finishes checking his lines and medications.”

I nodded.

“Is he improving?”

“He’s still very sick, but we’ve stabilized his breathing for now.”

David thanked him quietly.

When we were allowed inside, I barely recognized the peaceful little boy lying beneath the fluorescent lights.

A tube emerged from his mouth, secured carefully against his face.

Machines breathed for him with a steady mechanical rhythm.
