My husband left his medication at home, so I stopped by his office to bring it to him. But when I asked the receptionist to call him downstairs, she said, "Ma'am, your husband has been on leave for the past week."

She had come through that door to tell me that my husband did not know, so that I would not walk into a corridor and take his face off him in front of a waiting room.
PART 3

My husband has been having treatment at the Wexley Centre since the eleventh of June.

That is the date of the first appointment. The diagnosis itself was the fourth of June, a week earlier.

Four months. Not a week.

I am not going to put the diagnosis on this page.

That is his. He has asked me not to and he asked me nicely, in a kitchen, and it is the only thing he has asked me for in eleven weeks.

The only thing I will say is that it has a number attached to it, and that the number is not nothing, and that I have looked at it about four hundred times.
