My Future Mother-in-Law Invited Me to Dinner the Night Before My Wedding — But She Had a Sinister Plan

“Let’s start fresh, sweetheart,” she said.

For the first time, I wondered if she genuinely wanted to make peace.

Then she offered me coffee.

As she returned from the kitchen carrying two cups, my phone buzzed. It was Arthur.

“DON’T DRINK WHAT SHE GIVES YOU! I’M ON MY WAY!”

My heart raced, but I forced myself to remain calm. Patricia placed a cup in front of me and another beside her chair before disappearing into the kitchen to fetch pie.

I had no idea what Arthur’s warning meant, but I trusted him enough to take it seriously. While Patricia was away, I quickly switched our cups.

When she returned, I acted as though nothing had happened. We drank our coffee and continued discussing the wedding. About twenty minutes later, Arthur arrived, and I thanked Patricia for dinner before leaving.

Outside, he immediately asked whether I had drunk the coffee.
