I Went to the Airport to Say Goodbye—Then Caught My Husband Plotting to Ruin Me

“Claire?”

His gravelly voice immediately made me feel steadier.

“Everything alright?”

“No.”

I looked toward the terminal doors.

“Adrian is attempting a fraudulent asset transfer.”

Silence.

Then Marcus said:

“Start from the beginning.”

“I just saw him at Bellmere International Airport with another woman.”

“Who?”

“I don’t know yet.”

I looked at the recording.

“But I have audio of Adrian talking about emptying my accounts, transferring the house, and filing for divorce once everything clears.”

Marcus’s tone changed instantly.

No longer family friend.

Attorney.

“Did you sign those corporate authorization forms he gave you last month?”

“Yes.”

A pause.

“But not the way he thinks.”

Marcus went silent.

“Explain.”

ADRIAN HAD ALREADY TAUGHT ME NOT TO TRUST HIM

Three years earlier, Adrian forged my signature on a joint credit application.

He called it a misunderstanding.

Said he had been under pressure.

Said he assumed I would approve anyway.
