His expression changed.
It was no surprise.
It was something else.
Something I couldn't understand.
Then he said quietly:
I know.
I stopped walking.
What do you mean you know?
He immediately looked away.
“I meant... I figured it out.
I wanted to believe him.
And somehow, I did.
The next night, when I collapsed while talking about Michael, Daniel surrounded me with his arms.
For six years, no man had hugged me like that.
I should have walked away.
Instead, I closed my eyes and allowed myself to feel safe again. 💔
But on my last night, Daniel became strangely nervous.
He barely touched his dinner.
He then asked me to walk with him to the quieter end of the beach.
Under the moonlight, he stopped, put his hand in his pocket and looked at me with an expression that made my stomach shrink.
“There’s something I need to tell you before you go,” he whispered.
