In the August I took Charlie and Marnie to the lido at Larchfield.
And I wore a swimming costume with a low back.
For the first time since I was about eleven years old.
I bought it in the July and it was in a drawer for five weeks and I nearly did not.
And I want to be honest that I was sick with it in the car park, properly, at thirty-five, with two children in the back.
And absolutely nothing happened.
Nobody looked. Nobody said anything. A woman of about seventy in the shallow end said something to me about the weather.
And I have been back eleven times since and I have not worn anything else.
Because Marnie is going to be four in about two and a half years and she is going to find out what is on her back.
And she is going to learn what to think about it by watching me.
