Home Entertainment Game Technology Advertisement Part 2: For eight years, my parents made me leave the house every time my brother brought his fiance over; Mom said, “She comes from a good family, don’t embarrass us”; Dad added, “Just disappear for the weekend”; I did; then one weekend, I never came back; it took them four years to find out where I went.

I nodded.

"Nina Price."

My hands began trembling.

"She was in the hospital when I was there."

Avery opened another document.

It was a patient transfer record.

Two names appeared.

**STACEY LOCKHEART.**

**NINA PRICE.**

Both listed on the same ward.

Both scheduled for discharge within forty-eight hours.

But the final entries were different.

Mine showed a death.

Nina's showed a transfer to an unnamed private facility.

I stared at the page.

"That doesn't make sense."

Avery swallowed.

"No."

I looked at her.

"Where is Nina now?"

Her eyes filled with tears.

"That's what Grandma spent the rest of her life trying to find out."

She was a quiet woman in her sixties with silver-rimmed glasses and a reputation for never giving an answer she couldn't support.

She studied the death certificate.

The insurance claim.
