Raymond initially claimed he had only intended to frighten Lucas into abandoning the meeting.
But investigators also found evidence that he had deliberately followed Lucas onto the highway and driven aggressively enough to force him off the road.
When confronted with the footage, Raymond changed his story.
He admitted he had been promised a substantial payment if Lucas missed the meeting.
He claimed Charles had told him to scare Lucas.
Not kill him.
Whether that claim was true would eventually be for a jury to consider.
The investigators did not simply accept Raymond’s version.
They examined phone records, financial transfers, the truck, and the communications between everyone involved.
