Even at 8 Months Pregnant, My Daughter Kept Smoking, Drinking Beer, and Disappearing at Night, Saying, “I Never Wanted This Baby, and I’m Not Sacrificing My Life for It.” I Thought My Daughter Had Become a Monster. When I Followed Her to an Abandoned Building and Looked Through the Window and Saw What She Was Doing Inside, I Froze in Horror…

“But why hide everything from me?” I whispered.

Emily looked at me with tearful eyes.

“Because you kept telling me Daniel deserved another chance. I was afraid you’d tell him where Jamie was staying.”

Her words devastated me.

I had repeatedly encouraged Emily to reconcile with Daniel for the sake of her unborn child. I hadn’t understood the danger she feared.

Then I remembered the cigarettes and  beer.

“Emily, what about your own baby? Don’t you understand what you’ve been doing?”

She lowered her head.

“Mom, I know it was wrong. I couldn’t stand carrying the child of someone who hurt me. Drinking and smoking made me feel like I still controlled my life. But I was only hurting myself and risking the baby’s health.” TrackPregnancy

Her voice broke.

“The more you called me a monster, the harder it became to ask you for help.”
