The Most Important Thing to Remember
When a family member dies, their possessions can make the loss feel incredibly real.
Every drawer may contain a memory.
Every photograph may tell a story.
Every familiar object may remind you that someone who once used it is no longer there.
But you do not have to keep everything to keep their memory alive.
Some belongings should be handled carefully because they contain medication, financial information, identification, or private digital material.
Others may simply be too emotionally painful to keep.
And that’s okay.
Letting go of an object is not the same as letting go of the person.
Memories live in the people who loved them—not in every possession they left behind.
