At my younger sister's wedding, my mother mocked my dress uniform in front of 200 guests and called me a "lowly soldier

And that is when Casper Frayne pushed his chair back hard enough to make the legs scream on the floor.

"Enough."

And the quartet stopped.

And Rina caught his sleeve. "Casper. Sit down."

And he pulled away without looking at her, and he said two words.

"Major Varr."

And my mother's face changed, and my father's glass went on the floor, and the people who had been laughing four seconds earlier stopped making any noise at all.

And I still had not raised my voice, which seemed to bother her more than anything.

"What is this?"

And I put a sealed blue folder down next to the cake.

And Casper's breathing changed.

And my sister looked at it and said: "What is that?"

What was in it.
