Olive.
They deserved to know what their husbands found funny.
And I wanted Ryan to understand what it felt like when something cruel and private suddenly became public.
I wasn’t ready to end my marriage.
But I was done pretending nothing happened.
So Friday afternoon, while Ryan was out, I created a slideshow.
First slide:
The photograph of me in the kitchen holding Emma.
Then Ryan’s comment.
“Remember what she looked like when we got married? Guys, this is just a disaster…”
Next slide.
“She looks like a baby elephant. I don’t know how I’m supposed to keep living with her. I’m not attracted to her at all anymore.”
Then the contract joke.
Then Glen’s responses.
Max’s laughter.
I connected the file to our television.
Tested it once.
Everything worked.
Saturday evening arrived.
I wore a blue dress I had bought after Emma was born.
